Rm8sal began writing seriously in 2000 and remembers that the experience was a portal opening to another side of her being
She first discovered the Late Night Poets Room by Invitation and thinks it is a needed venue for online poets
She feels that the LNP Poets are serious about their poetry reading and writing and finds it a pleasure to read the varied styles.
The most valuable experience re: my time in LNP is reading and enjoying other poets whenever she can attend.
My name is Madeline Salvaggio, you probably know me best by Sal or Rm8sal
I am 88 years old and I live in the Northeast in a lovely seaside village with my loving husband .
I always loved writing as a young girl and was involved with school newspapers and year books I also wrote short stories etc. etc.
However, life has a way of changing the order of things.
After marriage, my priority became my family- (6 boys 2 girls my only claim to fame)
I involved myself in other pursuits as time allowed such as painting and being involved with exhibiting my art.
In Later years…..I proof read for a local newspaper, and ran my own business for a time.
Now retired, my computer is my latest addition,
I am now able to pursue my passion for writing and painting and
have the time to do it-( did I say that?) my nest is empty
I love our family gatherings with our wonderful Grandkids.
I have been published in Poetic Voices, and Primetime Magazine-(a local weekly), as well as in an Anthology Published by Poet Works Press called “A Nickel full of Dreams”. I also published a chapbook called “Poetic Visions” and I am in the process of writing another
My poetry is usually short-( I think it keeps the readers’attention)and portrays my love of nature “especially the sea” also, I draw from life experiences.
Few People know that Madeline is interested in:Oil-painting and anything to do with the environment, hopefully this is reflected in my writing.
Favorite Author…Robert Frost, Rudyard Kipling
Top interests/hobbies outside of poetry….
1)Art
2)Gardening
3)Environment
4)Family Gatherings
5)Cooking
Favorite Sports/Teams: Boston Red Sox– New England Patriots
Favorite Poet: Robert Frost
Favorite Poem:All his works
A Patch of Old Snow ~ There’s a patch of old snow in a corner That I should have guessed Was a blow-away paper the rain Had brought to rest. ~ It is speckled with grime as if Small print overspread it, The news of a day I’ve forgotten — If I ever read it. ~ Robert Frost
If you could meet any poet, who would it be? Robert Frost
What made you choose that poet? He relates to the life experiences of the common man through poetry.
A Time to Talk ~ When a friend calls to me from the road And slows his horse to a meaning walk, I don’t stand still and look around On all the hills I haven’t hoed, And shout from where I am, What is it? No, not as there is a time to talk. I thrust my hoe in the mellow ground, Blade-end up and five feet tall, And plod: I go up to the stone wall For a friendly visit. ~ Robert Frost
Congratulations Madeline You are so very deserving of …Poet Of The Month
Your work is genuine and so beautiful as is your art work as well. You are a pleasure to have attending Platinum Poetry. We look forward to reading your new book when done.
Just picked up and re-read “Poetic Visions” the other day. I get something new and different from her writings each time I re-read. Beautiful paintings. Keep on….
Nice that…….8 …is Poet of the Month…..well deserved…. i like a lot of what her bio said….and her poetry….. I think I like her poem The Moment…..and her reference to driftwood in it… I remember being down at lake erie in the summers and getting driftwood and my mom would say…..take that back to the beach …..but my dad let me keep it….. I also like 8’s work is kinda short…. it’s a good message for a poet to keep the reader interested with that tool…..
Too bad we don’t see her more often…..ian
