By: FILLMYEYES~heart with butterfly wings

My heart was once cocooned
in barbed wire,
and was hungry,
until your kindness
snipped slowly through
easing her gently
from her binds,
watching her as she
spread her wings,
drying them
in the sunlight
of your being.
witnessing them
flutter softly
as you spoke
to me
~
then she hungered
only for your voice
she was sustained
by your words alone.
“her nectar”
she was free,
yet wandered not.
“contented”
her wings
fluttered
with each
syllable
