Through a sprinkling of colored leaves
You come dancing to me
In your childlike laughter I’m lost
But a lost that I like to be
To the tune of the songbirds you dance
Pirouette and curtsey and smile
Your hypnotic motions flow past me
And I forget everything for a while
In a whirl of winds your hair lifts
Nature blows a frame for your face
With head tilted back arms, thrown in the air
You’re here and there’s peace in this place
In the falling of rain you run freely
Wet hair dangles over your face
Look from beneath your eyebrows at me
Then invite me to play in the chase
In the warmth of the sun dance again
You steal my thoughts and my mind
A woman with the heart of a child, you laugh
And I leave the whole world behind
