Mother Earth
What have they done to you Mother?
they have ripped your Rain Forest
hair from your head-
What have they done to you mother?
they have polluted your oceans, rivers
and streams-
What have they done to you Mother?
they have smog bound your once
beautiful pristine clean air-
What have they done to you Mother?
they have ravaged the depths to the
very core of your fertile womb-
What have they done to you mother?
they have caused earth-shaking damage
in their inglorious greed to create for all
a catastrophic one way tomb-

POLLUTION
It’s not hard to see where the problem lies
from the littered streets to the smog filled skies
from the oil spills to the mining boom
It’s a no-return and we’ll be there soon
We can talk all day in our comfy chairs
while the air con cools and the TV blares
when we hear these things
it just breaks our hearts
but there’s things we ‘need’
so our heart’s grow hard
It’s a trendy word, this being ‘green’
and I’m still unsure what it really means
Being first in line for the new iphone
or looking chic in your five room home
We throw away, just to make more room
and we change the channel
when it’s doom and gloom
We can’t all be hippies,
bloody hugging trees
‘I was born to shop’
we say selfishly
So they clear the forest and they frack for gas
they mine our land and they bury trash
While the rich exploit anyway they can
our paradise becomes barren land
So the earth responds with wild weather
-there’s no excuse
We should know better
……
