Silence is slain, bringing pain,

To ears so fond of the quiet dark,
Forewarning flash brings scorn,

Cannot explain, it drives me insane,

It has plauged me since I was born,
In that fleeting moment, when all is stark,

I see my own disdain, unwashed by the rain…

Superstition adheres, an accursed seven years,

Still I shatter the mirror that reflects my soul,
Reclaim at least the dark, if only for darkness sake,

Then bury at last these childish fears,

No longer cry asleep, no longer jolt awake,
Rekindle my heart, a lonely dying coal,

Lightning flashes, but coaxes no more tears…
