As the clock that stands so tall and proud

In the hallway of our lives
So is the clock that counts the time
And measures and divides
The very seconds of the hands
On its face for us to see
The flickering of an eyelash
Compared to eternity
We walk the halls while earthbound
The majestic clock at work
And spend our lives as dollars and cents
For every earth’s sense worth
Without the thought of what our gain
Or how well our choice might be
And when our time is done
Of where it went and what we won
Then comes the time the clock stands still
Beyond our hands to rewind
No going back to then undo
What all was lost in time
Those very seconds we had spent
That were priceless monies in hours
Gone forever, and now a pauper
They are no longer ours
